Description
Alma has really developed into a solid performer for us in both flavor and productivity. Its almost rubbery-like skin resists rain and adds a pleasant chewiness. It roots easily, produces a breba crop, is fairly cold hardy, and does well in pots. The rich flavor is a mix of buttery caramel, vanilla, and light brown sugar. There’s a reason why Holy Smokes Unk became such a popular variety. We can tell no difference between it and Alma, so we culled the Holy Smokes.
Alma is a cross between the female Vernino AKA Allison (100% Carica) fig variety and the male Hamma Caprifig (50% Palmata), making the Alma 25% Palmata.
