Description
A very good Spanish, common type variety from Monserrat Pons. If I do not count Galicia Negra as an actual Black Mission variety (almost in a class by itself), Victoria ranks #1 of that fig family. It grows extremely fast and is very productive. Its small to tight ostiole and elongated shape makes it very resistant to rain, splitting, and insects. The small to medium-sized figs are purple to black-skinned, with red berry-flavored interiors. They can dry on the tree, producing a rich, jammy, chewy texture, with a moderate seed crunch. It’s mid-season and will continue producing figs all the way up until after frosts. Other than the figs being on the small side, Victoria has good qualities for commercial production.
