Description

AKA Fichetta. We received our mother tree already established in a 1/2 gallon pot in 2019. It came from a collector in California with the fig wasp and already had some ripening caprified figs on it. They were quite tasty, but after that the tree only produced droppers until 2022, when it began producing some small edible figs. So far, nothing to write home about without caprification. It may get better with age, but in spite of Larusso’s claims that LV5 is common, it should be considered a semi-common fig type for now and only grown by those with the fig wasp to produce quality figs.

Features
  • A semi-common fig type, which does require caprification for quality figs
  • A rare Italian variety from the Francesco Lorusso fig collection
  • A fairly sweet, berry-flavored fig, with pineapple and grape tones when caprified and fully ripe
